Getting started
You have to be by law 17 to start learning to drive and must have a valid provisional driving licence before you take your first Driving lesson. You will need to complete a Form (D1) available from your local Post Office and when completed, send it to the DVLA (DVLNI for Northern Ireland) you will need to send it along with your Passport or Birth Certificate, and you will need to include a passport-sized photo. It is also possible to apply for your Driving Licence online.
Ideally you should apply for your provisional licence up to three months before your 17th birthday, this way you can ensure that you can book your first Driving Lesson for the big day!

What and how many Driving Lessons do I need?
At Driving Lessons Romford you will be able to ask your Driving Instructor, who will be able to estimate how long you are likely to need after your first lesson. The current average is 45 hours of Driving Lessons (information provided by the Driving Standards Agency average, 2006), with around 22 hours of private practice. Two-hour Driving Lessons and some our tips for practicing driving can help you learn faster.
